Minshuku Ginmatsu

A clean, comfortable Japanese tatami room at an affordable price, and the owner was very friendly and helpful. It’s within walking distance of the bus station, and there’s a free parking spot. Just note that the shower closes at 23 and the main gate at midnight.

The traditional Japanese breakfast was excellent and generous, and the rooms were huge and comfortable. This minshuku is in a lovely old town area and is conveniently located for experiencing Kanazawa the traditional way. The hosts were very kind and attentive. I only wish I could have stayed longer!

The owners made the biggest impression on us. We felt welcome as the owner showed us around and explained things at the minshuku and nearby, with plenty of recommendations. Breakfast was excellent and filling, with fish, omelette, tofu, fish cake, and fruit, all tasting good. It was such a lovely way to start the day. The rooms are large and traditionally furnished, with futon beds, good tea, and a kotatsu, which was a particular joy. The place is just around the corner from one of Kanazawa’s most beautiful areas, a five-minute walk to Higashi Chaya, and a short loop-bus ride from other sights like Kenrokuen.

The owner was very pleasant, and the location is excellent, just 21 steps from the door to the Higashiochaya historical district and a short walk to the RL Loop bus stop. The tatami rooms are large, and breakfast was a nice home-cooked meal with local flavors. The private shared bath is small, but there’s a pleasant sento-style onsen around the corner. The 9 pm curfew surprised me. The doors are locked then, though there’s an after-hours doorbell.
