Motoyu Ishiya

The onsen was fantastic, with naturally mineral-rich water that had no smell, and a long history. It's a traditional nude bath, so no clothes are allowed, and you need to wash thoroughly first in the showers inside the spa room. The place is a great choice if you're ready to slow down and experience traditional Japanese culture. We loved our stay. The staff were exceptionally diligent, though there was a significant language barrier and Google Translate helped a lot. The meals are very traditional, with things like raw whole baby squid, natto, lots of sashimi, and fish eggs about the size of boba. If you're not up for adventurous food, I'd skip the meals. They can't accommodate menu changes, and it's rude to leave food uneaten. Please keep suitcase wheels off the carpets, and read the binder in your room to learn how the facility works.
