What makes Lilac Hotels unusual is all the animals around the property: two dogs, a cat, two goats, chickens, cockerels, chicks, and dozens of rabbits hopping freely. I can see families especially enjoying that. The setting is peaceful, out among farmland with mountains on the horizon, about an hour's drive from Kagoshima. Our room was clean, had good amenities like a television, shower and bath, and a comfortable bed. The food was good too, with plenty to choose from. There's also a barbecue option, which I didn't try but it looked excellent. The staff were some of the warmest and friendliest people I've met in Japan, and made us feel welcome. I'd definitely recommend visiting Lilac Hotel.

Surrounded by farmland, this was a really relaxing place to stay, and you're likely to spot goats and rabbits. I was in a group of three, and our cabin was spacious, clean, and comfortable. I wanted to explore locally that summer in 2020 while living in Kagoshima City, and Lilac Hotel was a perfect fit for an amazing overnight stay.
