We loved the seasonal local dishes at dinner, some of the best food we had on our vacation. The beef set menu was especially good. Book dinner ahead if you want to eat there on the night you arrive. The Ryokan also serves breakfast, and there's a massage and spa if you want the full relaxation treatment :) Our second-floor room looked out to sea, and we spent three peaceful nights there. The staff were accommodating and very friendly, which made the stay memorable. A wonderful Ryokan by the sea, and worth the detour.

We were warmly welcomed, and everything felt very well organized. The free drinks in the saloon were a lovely surprise. I just wish there'd been more information about the complimentary robes. As Australians who don't speak Japanese, we weren't sure what to do with them at first, but once we found out, we enjoyed wearing them around the hotel. Fresh lilies in the foyer gave the place a beautiful aroma. It's a hidden gem, well away from the bustle of the cities, with pretty surroundings, good food, and great hot baths.

The room was spacious with a six-star ocean view, and the Japanese design and decorations were graceful. A self-service bar is open from 18:00-23:00. Breakfast was among the best we've ever had, though I'd rate the service four stars. It also seemed Japanese customers got better service than foreign guests.

We visited in the off season, so it was quiet and the bar was closed. Even with two rather bumbling Europeans, the staff were excellent. The location is marvelous, the decor beautiful and calm, and the dining fabulous.
