We had a pleasant stay in the autumn season of Nov 2024. The guesthouse owners are very sweet and friendly, and the rooms stayed warm and cozy. You can use the pantry for hot water and the microwave, and bring your own snacks. Bikes are available to rent, too. A great stay in Naka-Karuizawa!

This quaint blue-and-white cottage sits on a hill in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. It’s a world away from the crowded Karuizawa town center, with nature and hiking trails close by. The 12-minute walk from the station is worth it. The man running the hostel was attentive, very polite, helpful, and spoke good English. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.

The guesthouse looks just like it does on the website, and even though it’s a bit far from the station, I thought the distance was worth it. Inside, it has a lovely western-house feel that you wouldn’t expect in Japan, and the facilities all worked well. The older couple who run it are friendly and kind. The manager recommended a great ramen shop nearby, which was just right. Don’t miss breakfast either. The HLT was so good. They used pickled seeds instead of cucumber to add a sour note to the sandwich, which felt fresh and unique. I had a joyful stay.

A lovely couple runs this beautiful guesthouse. The rooms were clean and breakfast was tasty. It’s a bit of a walk from the train station, but there are several buses nearby.

The owner speaks English, and we ended up having a long chat about the guest house and the area. I stayed one night after coming to Karuizawa Price Ski resort for two days of skiing. Naka Karuizawa station is within walking distance, and the place had all the facilities I needed. A nice stay.
