The backyard was lovely, with BBQ grills and a pizza oven, and the room was spotless with a fully equipped kitchen. I stayed with my boyfriend, and an American family was in the room next to us. It seems like the place would work well for families or groups too. The owner and his wife were so friendly and helpful. They gave us great tips for getting around Karuizawa, and both speak excellent English. It felt like a cozy home, and we’d absolutely love to come back soon.
I’ve stayed here quite a few times and always recommend it. It’s a lovely little place, with fantastic rooms that are spotless and fully equipped. I especially love the pine smell.
Let’s go here with friends.
There were pictures of cars on the walls and a car keychain on the key, so maybe the owner is a big car fan. The place seemed fairly new, and the room was clean with hardly any dirt or scratches. It had been cleaned thoroughly, which I appreciated. All I needed to bring was a toothbrush. There was a rice cooker and a heater in the bedroom. They also offer BBQs, so I’d like to try one next time. I stayed here while skiing with a friend.
The lodge is lovely, with a warm wooden feel and thoughtful design. Given its convenient location, I’ve also found it good value. I’ve stayed several times because the couple are kind. The husband is calm, and his service and conversation suit my pace. He helped me when I ran into trouble, and part of me would like to stay again. But after getting to know the wife better, I became uncomfortable with her repeatedly recommending a supplement website that seemed like network marketing and talking about quantum energy for half an hour. She has strong anti-vaccine views and pushes them, which I find bothersome. She often stops me as I’m about to leave, and it’s exhausting. I dreaded having to sit through more long conversations and have her unusual ideas pressed on me, so I stopped booking. I’ve visited Karuizawa many times since, but stayed elsewhere. I also got tired of hearing her repeat the story of her husband’s career changes and how they met. It’s a shame, but I won’t use her services again. On topics like whether vaccines are needed, which should be discussed from a public health perspective, I think guests’ personal views shouldn’t be forced on them. The supplement card actually cost 10,000 yen. It was colorful and business-card-sized, and scanning its QR code took me to a supplement website, lol. She seems to keep believing in various things with good intentions, so I’ll leave it at that. It’s a shame. Thank you very much.
