The only things I can say in the place’s favor are that the location was reasonably convenient for us as students, since we could walk to Nakakaruizawa sta., and the staff helped with check-in and setting up the aircon. Apparently we were the only guests for two nights, and customer support itself was alright. The room had two beds, a TV and aircon, but everything else was outside it, including the lobby, and those areas weren’t heated. The mansion felt colder than the street. I had to put on a jacket to brush my teeth or use the restroom. The room was also intensely cold and took more than an hour to warm up properly. The bathroom was the worst part. It was relatively clean, but around 5 degrees. The water was under 40 degrees and the bath wasn’t filled. I was shaking and crying in the shower. We visited on relatively warm weekends, with temperatures from 0 to 13 degrees, and I can’t imagine how it is in winter. I tried filling the bath, but the stones were so cold the water cooled in seconds. I couldn’t wash my hair and had to go another day with greasy hair, which made me uncomfortable. The cheap towels didn’t absorb water either. The property also seemed to be cleaned rarely. Trash and toilet paper hadn’t been changed for days. It looks like it used to be a nice place, but now feels half abandoned. They need to address this and install heaters, or it would be unliveable until April. Don’t stay here in winter. In summer it might be usable.
