Business Hotel Elk Kasugai

The staff were all friendly and left a good impression. My room on the third floor still seemed old, though, despite other people saying the rooms or air conditioning had been renovated. The lighting was too dim for working.

I had breakfast at the coffee shop with a direct entrance from the hotel. The station is close, the toilets have bidet functions, and there’s parking for a fee. Restaurants nearby make it easy to find food if you only need a room without meals. It’s neither especially good nor bad.

The rooms are generally old, but clean, and the price is reasonable. Staff are always friendly and courteous, so I’d recommend the place. Once in a while, a TV in a room doesn’t work properly.

The female front desk staff were welcoming and not bureaucratic, which was nice in a hotel that feels a bit old-fashioned. The room door takes a little knack to open. Power isn’t tied to the key, so I could leave the air conditioner on or charge things while out. The built-in air conditioner can’t be adjusted, but it worked well. The sink is small, and the shelf gets in the way when washing my face. The LCD TV is smaller than a modern desktop monitor. There’s a laundry basket in the room and a coin laundry on site, so I imagine plenty of guests stay several nights. I wore the yukata provided as roomwear. It had been a while since I last wore an obi. The room rate is reasonable. Parking is 500 yen per night, cheaper than nearby, and reserving a space is reassuring. If the lot is full, there are plenty of public parking lots around the station. I’d be fine with the hotel staying as it is if renovations raised the price, though some updating would still be nice.
