The hostel is warm, comfortable, clean, and quiet, and Ken was a gracious host. I felt really at peace there. The train station is close by, with two 711s just a short walk away, and there’s an Izakaya nearby called Luna. I loved Chiba and Narita, which are about 30 minutes away, and feel like hidden gems to me. I do wish the place were closer to Tokyo, though. With the delays, the train to Shibuyah took almost four and a half hours. Still, it’s hands down the best hostel I’ve stayed in. Stay here.

It was lovely to walk around Sawara and along the Ono River. My single room was just right, with its own bathroom. I’d forgotten my international adapter, so Ken San lent me a phone charger. I picked up an adapter later at the nearby 7-Eleven.

The private room was nice and clean, with its own bathroom, and the hostel itself looks good and is well located. There’s also coin laundry, and washing soap is free. But sleep was a problem. Sound carries straight through the traditional Japanese paper doors. Other guests were in the kitchen from 6 am, clattering dishes and making no effort to keep quiet. The room curtain doesn’t block the morning light either, so don’t stay here if you want to sleep in.

I was completely happy with everything, and the place looks really modern. On checkout day, though, one of my roommates went out and left her phone in the room. Its alarm kept going for over 15 minutes. T.T

The host was friendly and gracious. I had a really good time, especially with the Sahara river so close by, lined with many old buildings dating back to The Edo period.
