Business Hotel Lend

There aren’t many hotels in Higashi-Kawaguchi, so booking this one felt like a relief. But we booked for two and were given the wrong room, which meant carrying our luggage all the way there. The room had no soundproofing at all. I was also surprised by an extension fee charged for each person. I’ve stayed in countless places, from five-star hotels and above to small business hotels, and had never seen an extension fee based on the number of guests. It felt like I’d been ripped off. The front desk staff spoke to me terribly, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back.

The location is convenient, close to the station and a supermarket, and the front desk staff are helpful. It was clean, but I wanted to note the things that bothered me after returning here for the first time in a long while. When it first opened, it was nice and clean, but now the facilities feel old and the cleaning wasn’t thorough. There’s only one elevator, so it takes a long time, and my single room had no outlet near the bed. I found dust above the bathroom light fixture and a hairpin on the floor. The worn towels were stiff and uncomfortable to use. I wouldn’t recommend the breakfast option, there was no coffee, and the humidifier is laughable, though that’s a matter of personal preference. I’m only sleeping there, so I can’t complain too much.

The man who helped me at checkout had a lovely smile, and that left a very good impression. The room was clean, and the facilities seemed fairly new. Higashi-Kawaguchi Station is only a two-minute walk away, with lots of restaurants and a 24-hour Seiyu supermarket close by, so food and shopping were easy. It’s a little expensive for the value, but for those reasons it felt worth five stars.

The location is great, but the room had a very Showa-era feel, and the breakfast was tiny in both portion size and variety. The outside was much better than the room and breakfast. Instead of a modern kettle, there was a strange machine with a built-in humidifier. The hotel also smelled a bit fishy. I’ll never stay here again.
