We stayed for three days and two nights at this dog-friendly pension. It was lively, with four puppies and three other Border Collies around, plus an older Border Collie who greeted us. He was gentle and friendly. Dinner was a BBQ and buffet. We had Izu beef, which they said only 120 are raised each year, along with tasty beef tongue and Calbee. The beer was good, and so was the boat-shaped plate of sashimi made from fish caught that day. Since we arrived late at night, they told us the room hadn’t been cleaned properly, and they were right: there was hair on the sink. My companion also thought the shower was terrible. There’s a hot spring nearby, though, and we got a discounted ticket to go there, so the shower wasn’t a problem for us. The pension is a little way up in the mountains, which is why it’s dog-friendly. The entrance might be hard to spot if it’s your first visit. A sign would be nice.
