There’s a lot of character to the room, even though the place is very, very old. We had a Japanese-style room with futons on the floor, and the plastic bathroom looked like it had seen better days. The old cigarette smell seemed like it was there to stay. There’s also an on-site hot spring that’s quite popular with Korean tourists.

The food was a highlight, and the service was outstanding. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable. My room was clean, spacious, and had everything I needed.

The beds are comfortable, the staff are warm and friendly, and the hotel has decent amenities. It’s also handy for nearby restaurants, izakaya, and shops. The onsen was good overall, but several facilities were out of order. The men’s baths on the ground floor had neither a working rotenburo (outdoor bath) nor a cold plunge pool. The larger, airier baths on the 6th floor were nicer, with a small rotenburo, though the bigger one was out of order. The sauna and plunge pool there weren’t working either. The hotel could use a refresh. The decor looks like it hasn’t changed in decades, and at minimum the carpets need replacing and the place needs a fresh coat of paint. The Western-style rooms are tiny, with barely enough space for a suitcase.

I’ve heard a lot of bad reviews, but I really liked staying here. The room and bed were comfy, and the view was nice.
