The onsen was easily the best part. We alternated between the hot spring and cold water dip, and the contrast bath was excellent. The futon was comfortable too. The rooms were very clean, and the staff were warm and homely. The boss lady celebrated with us, and I saw her at every meal during our stay. The food was a bit salty for my taste since I prefer plainer food, though I think that's the traditional flavor of Kyushuu cuisine and it felt authentic.

The property covers about 33,000 square meters along the Tenmuri River. It has 13 detached guest rooms, each with a 100% natural hot spring and a cold spring bath, so you can alternate between hot and cold. There's also an annex where you can enjoy the naturally gushing warm water, "Kizu-yu," and the hot water, "Take-no-yu," along with an open-air bath. The main building dates to the Taisho period and is used for private dining.

We had an amazing stay in this ryokan. The separate cabins were lovely, and both of our private baths were soothing. There are two public bath areas: an indoor one with healing properties, and a larger outdoor spa that feels like having your own bath. The food was very good too.

We've stayed in many ryokan around Japan, but few were as beautiful as this one. Our riverside room had an internal bath and was the best we've ever had. The setting was relaxing and breathtaking, and the staff were so kind and caring that we felt at home.

It was raining when we arrived, and the rain made the atmosphere feel so dreamy. This was the best onsen of my life, and I'm really glad we went. The food was amazing too. I can't think of anything to complain about.
