This is a large cabin that’s been renovated, and it was incredibly cosy. We wished we could have stayed longer. The host sent us details about nearby farms, cafes, and a restaurant. There’s a rare chance to use a private onsen, and the host also gives great massages in a professional, clean, well-equipped place. A beautiful mountain sanctuary. Just don’t expect the same quiet or nighttime darkness, with blinds, that you’d get in a city hotel.

The countryside really won me over. There are a few streetlights near the inn, but drive a little and it’s pitch black, just how mountain roads are (lol). On a late-night trip to the convenience store I saw a weasel and a deer 🦌. In the morning the cicadas were chirping and everything was quiet. I wanted to make the place my vacation home. Even though it was summer, I didn’t see any insects in the room and could relax comfortably. A great trip, and I’d love to return! I stayed two days last week while visiting Kagoshima ☺︎. Takachiho Ranch is nearby, so I played with the sheep before checking in (lol). The room smelled wonderful when I opened the door, and the decor was stylish and thoughtful down to the details. I felt relaxed and soothed throughout the stay. The kitchen was exceptionally well equipped, with lots of acacia plates and glasses. I especially liked the wooden, cork-like glasses. There were pots, large plates, appliances, utensils, and even crushed ice in the freezer, which came in handy. The organic-smelling soaps were lovely, and I enjoyed the hot springs and a relaxing, elegant evening.

The owner was so polite and kind, and my child was smiling the whole time ♫ The room had even been warmed up before we arrived, such a thoughtful touch ♫ I was most pleased with the bath. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, the temperature was adjustable, the mirror was huge, and the organic shampoos smelled great. The lodge itself was excellent in both design and usability too.

The sulfur spring bath was spacious and fantastic to soak in, and we went in several times. The kitchen had more utensils, dishes, appliances, and seasonings than we have at home. There were plenty of heaters and lights, and we were comfortable throughout. The supermarket about a 10-minute drive away had almost anything we needed. We spent one night here as a couple on the first day of our trip. It’s a renovated log cabin-style lodge in a villa area of Kirishima. The owner’s taste shows in the lovely room, which has an oriental feel. The kitchen, living room, and bedroom are all on one floor, with slight partitions between them, and the aroma throughout was soothing. It was very quiet, with no foot traffic or car noise except for activity related to the property. We heard the owner offers spa and massage services, though we didn’t try them this time. We’d love to return for several nights if we get the chance. It was a wonderful room.

We were grateful they hosted us during the typhoon. The aromatherapy scent spread through the whole room and made it feel like a special escape. Everything from the curtain rail and lighting to the chairs and fabrics was stylish. One night felt too short, just as other reviews have said. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay several nights. The bathroom was roomy, with space for two, and I liked the huge mirror and thoughtful amenities. Its wallpaper was cute, as was the small frosted-glass window in the door. It seemed like an old design, but I found it charming. Soy sauce, salt, pepper, and other condiments are provided, though you might want to bring your own favorites. There’s no loungewear, so bring comfortable clothes.
