Spice Motel Okinawa

It's a charming, hip little motel with nice rooms, a cute bar, and a lovely deck. I don't get why it has only 4.1 on google reviews, it deserves more like 4.7ish. You can walk 20 minutes to the Aeon Mall, but there's not really anything else in the neighborhood.

The welcome made me feel at home as soon as I arrived. The staff were so hospitable, and I’d recommend staying here if you’re visiting and want to be near Rycom or American Village.

We used this motel as our base for nearly three weeks while exploring Okinawa by car, and it worked perfectly for us. It’s in a quiet area, the rooms are clean, there’s plenty of parking, and having a washer and dryer was handy. We also enjoyed the coffee room downstairs and the rooftop terrace, where you might catch a beautiful sunset. The staff were really friendly. Thanks for having us 🙏

I came back for a three-night stay in mid-February, having first visited in late January and early February 2018. I still love the peaceful setting. American Village is under a 10-minute drive away, Aeon takes about six minutes, and both are great for shopping and food. It’s also a useful spot for travelling between the east and west sides of the island. The motel has a retro feel. Rooms on the parking level have a garage right outside. There’s a small cafe by the entrance, open daily from 3 pm to 10 pm, with freshly brewed coffee; coffee is also available from 7 am, along with tea bags and drip coffee packs. Breakfast isn’t served now, though there used to be free Okinawa doughnuts and coffee. You can use the kitchen to boil water for cup noodles or reheat ready-to-eat food. Noodles, snacks, and drinks are sold there too, on an honor system: write down what you take and leave the money in the box. The communal room has a coin-operated washer and dryer, and radios play music throughout the rooms and shared areas. There’s no TV. On the roof, you’ll find a bathtub and shower with sunset views. I couldn’t try the rooftop shower this time because it was cold and rainy. Service was good, though the front desk and cafe now only operate from 3 pm to 10 pm. Nanako helped us twice and was cheerful and attentive. The staff were friendly and spoke English. I really enjoyed staying here again. Well done, Nanako.
