Kadonobou

The outdoor onsen has brown water from Kin no Yu, the same source used by this traditional Japanese ryokan. Dinner wasn’t very good, though. I’d suggest staying without dinner, since there are plenty of restaurants outside the ryokan.

Everything else was fine, but the public bath is closed from 11 pm until 6 am, and there’s no private bath. We stayed just one night, so finding that out without knowing beforehand was really frustrating.

There’s a lot to like about this ryokan: clean, pleasant rooms, great service, and two hot springs, each with indoor and outdoor baths. They bring a wonderful breakfast to your room every morning. Parking and Wi-Fi are available too. The area is picturesque, with a late-opening pub, cafes and shops nearby. A 24-hour convenience store is a little farther away, by the bridge. You can get here by metro, though it’s a long ride.

We had a relaxing break in the lounge and got to use the private open-air bath at just the right time. The facility was quiet, which made for a restful atmosphere throughout, and the service was excellent from the moment we arrived, when our luggage was carried in quickly. We spent our time sightseeing in Osaka, but the accommodation was so comfortable that we wished we’d checked in earlier and had more time to enjoy it. Even so, we were able to make the most of our trip.
