The old building is clean and clearly cared for. I got a traditional room, and the attendant showed me how to set up the futon. It's just 3 tatami mats, but two people could fit comfortably. For me, traveling alone to Tokushima as a foreign student, it was plenty for one inexpensive night without extras. The attendant kindly lent me a towel, and shampoo and body wash are provided in the shower stall. You can also use pitchers of water, an electric kettle, and a small fridge. The walk from the station is about 10 minutes, with Family Mart and Nakau less than 5 minutes away. My room had a sink and air conditioning. Showers are shared and separated by gender, and the toilets are shared too. The place isn't disability accessible. Noise carries from the shared bathroom, and the doors close heavily on their own, though that's not guests deliberately being loud. I arrived just 5 minutes before the final check-in time and was greeted kindly. The attendant's English is good, though knowing some Japanese is always useful. If shared spaces are fine with you, the price is worth it. I'd stay here again when I'm in the area.
