We had an amazing stay. The rooms are enormous, more like a decent-sized apartment, with a large kitchen and everything you need. There’s also a private onsen for two right beside the beautiful Kurokawa onsen river, with a little waterfall nearby that made the setting feel dreamy. Everything was taken care of from the moment we entered the parking lot. The Ryokan is about a five-minute walk from the city center, which was no problem since it had everything we needed. The man at reception speaks decent English, so you should be fine even without Japanese. They seem to have only four rooms. We were lucky to book two days ahead, but I doubt we’d always be that lucky. I’d absolutely go back.

The service was grandiose, and we had a really delicious dinner. I also loved having a private quasi rotenburo. All of that made the scenery of Kurokawa Onsen even more special, and we enjoyed our stay so much.

Check-in was quick and easy, and the service was exceptional. They even offer a shuttle to the meal place, about a five-minute drive away. The one drawback is that you have to leave your car key with them.

It’s a perfectly serviceable ryokan on the edge of the main town. The staff are very good, and the meals are very good too, though not spectacular. There are better places, but I didn’t reserve in time.
