Harimayabashi Guesthouse - Vacation STAY 25782v

The only thing I liked was the location, right beside a shopping arcade. I wouldn't stay here again even if someone paid me. This was the worst place I've stayed in Japan, and I've tried plenty of cheap accommodation. There were cockroaches in the apartment's dining room and kitchen. Calling it an apartment seems more accurate than hotel, hostel, or even guesthouse: it's someone's random flat, with eight beds stacked in what is meant to be the bedroom and little else. There was no staff at all, just a few older Taiwanese women in my case. One had to sleep on blankets in the living room because she couldn't easily reach her bed. The contact details were useless. The phone number on Agoda was out of service, the one on Google went unanswered, and nobody ever replied to Agoda messages. There was no way to reach whoever runs the place. I also couldn't get parking information because Agoda blocked the link they sent. You have to take your shoes off in the street before climbing the stairs to the front door. Then you have to work out how to open the key box. Every amenity costs extra, with large printed PayPay QR codes beside them. A camera in the dining room seemed to be watching you, which felt creepy given that no one could be contacted and the only changing spot was a curtain in front of the washing machine, within the camera's view. The beds were small, uncomfortable, and musty smelling. The little ladder to the top bunks was awkwardly off center and painful to use.
