Hotel Tosaji Takasu

For what they charge, I expected more. The place felt old, dirty, and unpleasant.

The price was a welcome change after my usual downtown Kochi hotel wanted 20,000 yen a night, and I ended up feeling more comfortable here than I expected. I hadn't set the bar very high. The room is on the small side and having no desk was a bit inconvenient. Still, the renovated unit bathroom was spotless, and I had no big complaints about the front desk or getting into the parking lot. Finding that parking can be tricky at first because the hotel sits by an oddly shaped intersection. Breakfast is partly self-service. You don't get to pick the side dishes, but the portions and taste were fine.

I checked in on September 22, 2025. This business hotel seems set up well for people traveling alone. Dinner is easy, with three restaurants right next door, and the hotel restaurant serves Japanese breakfast from 7:00 AM. Breakfast items such as rice, miso soup, condiments, cutlery, and towels are self-service. There's also a drink machine on the second floor restaurant that's available all day. It has red tea, green tea, coffee, juice, and water, with hot and cold choices. On the first floor, I counted four coin-operated washers and four dryers.

They've clearly put a lot into how the inside and outside look, but the plumbing seems off. The walls could use another layer of soundproofing too. Even the T-fal pot is the same model Hard Off sold for 800 yen. Saving money is fine, but they should put more attention into services that suit what guests need.
