It felt more like a campsite than a hotel. We had to make the beds ourselves, and there were no towels or toothbrushes provided. The location is in the middle of nowhere, with very few restaurants or grocery stores nearby. Dinner and breakfast had to be booked before 7 pm. Since we arrived late, there was basically nowhere to get food.

The snow made this stay unforgettable for my family. We’re from Thailand and had never seen snow before, but it fell right outside our room during our February visit. We also got to enjoy an onsen while it was snowing. I know Kyushu doesn’t often get snow, so it felt extra special. This was our first trip to Japan, and the stay makes me want to visit Fukuoka again. The room was spacious and clean, and the price was low. There was a toilet but no bathroom, though the free private onsen was a short walk away and very convenient. A grocery store across from the property sold everyday items. I don’t speak Japanese, but the staff patiently tried to communicate, which made staying there easy for me as a foreigner. We wanted to add another night, but the place needs to be booked ahead and there were no rooms left. You can get there easily by car using GPS. Thanks for making our family trip so happy. I hope to stay here again soon.

There’s a small canteen or restaurant with tasty set meals that are good value. The room is short on basic amenities, though, and towels cost extra, 200 yen. You can use a private or family onsen for free.

For exploring the Kuju mountains, this place is ideally located and great value. The cabins are clean and comfortable, with a toilet, air conditioning and heating, plus a boiler for hot water. There’s Wi-Fi and a small mini-market at reception. You can’t cook in the cabin, but there’s a microwave at reception for warming bentos or supermarket food. The guest-only restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for an extra charge. The onsen is amazing. There are six private outdoor baths, as well as a large public bath with indoor and outdoor sections. Guests can use them day and night, except for a few hours when they close for cleaning. There’s also a little observatory with nice views, and the service is friendly.

The rooms are inexpensive, clean and cozy, and there’s Wi-Fi. We enjoyed the pretty good meals at the rural-style restaurant and really liked the friendly staff. Many thanks!
