APA Hotel Komatsu

The room was roomier than at other APA hotels, though there still wasn’t enough floor space to open our suitcases. It was clean and cozy, and the public bath at Komatsu Grand APA Hotel was also clean despite looking old and worn. Towels have to come from your room, and you just give your room number at the fourth-floor reception. The hotel’s service was good too. When I called for a humidifier, they offered to bring it up and did so, which I appreciated. Breakfast was only so-so. The choices were limited, and almost everything was cold, including the grilled fish. At 1,500 yen, I’d rather eat at McDonald’s or somewhere else. The toilet area also had a persistent smell, though I couldn’t tell if it came from the curtain or sink. It’s about a five-minute walk from Komatsu Station, which feels like one of the least convenient locations around Komatsu. The weekend rate, around 7,000-8,000 yen, was reasonable, though. Guests can use the public bath at Komatsu Grand, and you need to go there for the buffet breakfast as well.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and there’s a nice cafe beside the lobby. The staff were friendly and courteous. The onsen is across the street, with decent facilities. Rooms are on the small side but still comfortable. Parking is on-site in an automated tower.

We came from Osaka for one night on July 23, 2021. The room was clean, but not roomy, and the bathroom was a little cramped. The bed felt far too small for two adults, which made sleeping uncomfortable and frustrated us. Since the price was low, ¥5,040 plus ¥800 per day for parking, we understood and didn’t complain, but a bed that small shouldn’t be presented for two people. We were on the ninth floor and the view was okay. The staff were good, and the rest of the stay was fine. There’s no coffee among the room amenities, just green tea, but there is a dryer, and the bathroom supplies included a razor, comb, toothbrush, shower cap, cotton pads and ear buds. The body soap, shampoo and conditioner impressed me. They also gave us mouthwash for free. There’s a toilet in the room, an elevator, vending machine, and wheelchair access. Cash and cards were both accepted. There isn’t a convenience store nearby. The onsen is on the fourth floor of the nearby APA grand hotel Komatsu, about a one-minute walk away. Just tell them your room number. Parking at APA hotel is only for small cars, up to four seats. There’s also parking at APA Grand hotel Komatsu for about 30 cars, and another lot a five-minute walk away where you can take your car in and out as often as you need. Each option costs ¥800 per stay.
