The view was relaxing.

I stayed in a bunk room in Awazu Onsen, less than an hour's drive from Kanazawa. The room was long and narrow, with space mainly by the entrance and window, but I didn't find it cramped. The built-in bed was sturdy and didn't creak when I slept on it. The public bath is about a ten-minute walk away. The sign listed 5,800 yen with breakfast, though booking through a travel site or the hotel's website can be cheaper. Breakfast was served parfait-style and felt like good value, but there were no local specialties. The toiletries were limited to body soap, rinse-in shampoo, and a toothbrush. It was disappointing that there was no face soap or makeup remover for women. I wonder if those might have been available at the front desk. The overall value was good, and I'd consider staying here if I visit the area again.

There's no convenience store right around the hotel, but Genky is within walking distance. The parking lot is spacious, and the front desk staff are kind and polite. Prices are reasonable, even with two meals included. I stay here for work when I'm in places like Yamashiro and Yamanaka. It isn't really a family hotel, but I think it's a good fit for business travelers. I'll keep using it when work brings me this way.

I was glad to finally try raw egg over rice at the breakfast buffet, and I had three bowls. They also had the classic seasoned seaweed, which made it even better. At dinner, the rice tasted great, so I went back for several servings, though it was a little soft. The rest of the food was pretty tasty too. I came alone and chose the hotel because I was looking forward to both dinner and breakfast buffets. The all-you-can-drink option was a reasonable ¥1,210, and it's the same price on weekdays and weekends. The quiet, isolated setting can be nice sometimes. The hotel and room were clean, the room was spacious enough for one, Wi-Fi worked fine, and the restaurant had lots of tables. The buffet selection was limited, which was disappointing, and some hot dishes were cold. Beer tasted good, but maybe its alcohol content was low, because I didn't feel drunk no matter how much I had. I would've liked hot sake. The only fried item was chicken tempura, which I don't like, though I was lucky to find curry. There was no dessert afterward either. Since it's a business hotel, I can't expect too much, and I was satisfied to leave full. Wet towels are essential, but I don't think there were any in the morning or evening. It was cold at night, so I slept with the air conditioner on. I woke up to warm air that smelled of sweat and couldn't get back to sleep, so I had to turn it off. All told, I'm fairly satisfied with the hotel.

We stayed six days while our students took part in an intercollegiate competition. As an AZ chain hotel, the rooms, service, and staff were all excellent and reassuring. We'll definitely stay again. A few things to plan around: there aren't shops or alcohol vending machines in the hotel, and the nearest convenience store is about a 15-minute walk. A drugstore is three minutes away, but it only opens from 9:00 to 21:00. Despite being in a hot spring town, the hotel has no large public baths. The bus stop for Komatsu Station is right outside, but there are only four buses a day, so check the schedule. There are no taxi companies in the town, so it's best to avoid relying on taxis.
