We had a fantastic stay, with warm, welcoming service. The rooms were spacious, and we’d happily come back. Both onsens were wonderful, especially the upper one, where we watched the morning sun and clouds with mountains in the background. The cool tub was nice, too. The buffet breakfast was the best we’ve ever had, with lots of choices and traditional dishes.

The onsen view is amazing, and the mini cable car is cute and makes the trip worthwhile. The hotel is in the mountains, so the drive takes a while, but we were pleasantly surprised by the surroundings and the service. YouTube reviews had led us to expect an older hotel and rooms, but they’ve clearly been refurbished. The staff spoke limited English, but made a genuine effort to communicate with us about the hotel.

We had a good stay with our three kids. The outdoor bath was great, and there’s a playroom full of toys for children. It’s also nice to walk around the area and discover little spots. The place was clean and cozy, with good food and service, and good value.

The meals were lovely, especially the vegetables. If you’re coming with young kids, my tip is to order à la carte. My kids’ favorites were karaage and French fries. Surrounded by nature, this ryokan stays wonderfully cool in summer. Time seems to stand still here, which made it easy to slow down, unplug, and enjoy the surroundings. Soaking in the hot spring during a light drizzle was memorable, as was the special ride to reach the onsen. I’d highly recommend it to people coming from the city. The onsen view was perfect. Dinner starts at 18:00, so it’s better to get there before sunset.
