The place is out in the dark at night, and there aren't convenience stores or supermarkets nearby. There are a few old-fashioned local shops, though, and the well-known izakaya Ofukurotei. I ended up enjoying that sort of trip. It's a little away from the city center, but buses run from the airport and town to the stop by Shinzato Community Center. They're infrequent and usually late, so check the timetable on the app. My second-floor room had none of the noise problems mentioned by first-floor guests. It smelled a little like the inside of a wardrobe at first, but I got used to it. The building looks like a group of shipping containers, with rust on the outside from the sea air, while the room itself was very clean. Check-in was by touch panel and key card, and I didn't see any staff during my two-day stay. No room cleaning on day two, but extra towels were left outside. Service is minimal, though I was satisfied for the low price.

I was glad to find a place at this price, and would stay again. The container room was roomy, with new, clean facilities, and the washing machine was a nice surprise. Shops and restaurants were within walking distance, which made the area convenient. Tablet check-in was easy, though I got flustered when the phone number from my booking wouldn't let me log in, haha. The cleaning could have been better: I found sand and hair here and there, and when I checked under the bed before leaving, there was a lot of dust and some things left by the previous guest. Still, the place was generally clean, and I doubt most people would mind. Rates around here were cheap, so I stayed several nights and was comfortable.

The container exterior makes the rooms long and narrow, but inside it's a regular room with wood flooring. There’s air conditioning, a unit bath, a washing machine, and what you need for a stay. Service is limited, though they supply towels and take out the trash. You fill in your details on a tablet for check-in, and someone at the entrance counter can help if needed. It's a two-story building without an elevator, so hauling heavy bags upstairs can be awkward. That seems hard to avoid with this kind of structure. Rain is loud against the container exterior.

I was nervous when check-in didn't go smoothly, especially with cameras watching, but the room turned out much bigger and cleaner than I expected. Having a washing machine in the room was handy after time spent doing marine activities. The rusty exterior shocked me at first, though the clean interior was a relief. There aren't any convenience stores close by, so be sure to buy supplies ahead of time.

There really isn't anything around, so I'd avoid this place if you aren't traveling by car. The hallway has a vending machine and microwave, and the room includes a washer and space to dry things. It's fully unmanned and doesn't offer the kind of hospitality some people expect, but it can be a relaxing base for a business trip or marine activities. I first booked it during the state of emergency, figuring a spot away from the busy city center would be fine. I came back after restrictions were lifted. A taxi from Nishisato city center cost about 2,300 yen one way.
