After hiking both peaks of Tsukuba Mountain, it was late and most day-trip onsens had closed. Tsukuba Onsen Hotel was still open until 8pm, with last check-in at 7pm, so we managed to get a soak. The staff were polite and attentive, and the bath was very clean and new. Staying open late was a real plus. It did cost a bit more than usual, though, and I didn't think the amenities matched the price: no lotion or face moisturiser, not even a free towel. The outside looks like it's had a recent facelift, but the halls and room doors are old and dated. Walking down the hall to the bath felt a bit spooky.

I stayed overnight before hiking Mt. Tsukuba the next day. The hotel is nearby and offers pickup service. There's an indoor and an outdoor hotspring, and the food was great. My room was a little old but clean.

It was quiet, relaxing, and super clean. We got to the Hotel after 7:00 pm, and luckily my friend and I were the only ones there, so I could take pictures.
