Rakuten STAY Villa Miyakojima

A decent place for families with kids, though the quiet surroundings mean you should keep noise down late at night. We sometimes heard planes going to and from Miyako Airport. During our four-night stay the rubbish piled up, so an outdoor spot for putting it would have been helpful.

We had a really fun, relaxed getaway with a close group of friends. The container room stayed comfortable and wasn't hot like I thought it might be. We loved having a barbecue on the terrace, and after a hot day the tub-like pool was great for cooling off.

I'm here on a three-month monthly contract for a workation, and the internet is as good as at home, so work goes smoothly every day. It's quiet, I wake up to birdsong, and I can look at the stars from the outdoor bath late at night. On weekends I can get anywhere on Miyako Island within an hour. The place has basic appliances and daily necessities, though it isn't really set up for cooking for yourself, so I brought some cookware after getting permission. There were water problems when I arrived and the back door lock didn't work, but I contacted the staff and they fixed both that same day. That left me with a very good impression.

Everything was clean and comfortable in the room. Laundry was the inconvenient part: all three buildings share one washing machine, and there's no dryer. There's a clothesline on the floor, but too few hangers and no clothespins. That setup could use some improvement.
