Comfort Hotel Koriyama

The room was clean, the service was good, and the price felt right. Free parking and a simple breakfast included at this rate, what more could you ask for? I’d recommend it if you’re visiting the area.

It’s a budget hotel about a five-minute walk from the station, with really friendly staff who speak English well. The rooms are the usual small Japanese budget-hotel size, but have all the amenities. We loved the buffet breakfast. Recommended!

The price is reasonable, and I found the hotel good overall. It’s about a five-minute walk from KORIYAMA J.R. Station: cross the station walkway to the east exit, then go one block. There’s a convenience store nearby, but not many restaurants around the east exit, so it’s better to eat at the station. The receptionist was polite, the rooms were clean, and the Wi-Fi was fast enough for online meetings. Breakfast is free, with bread or rice to choose from, though there aren’t many side dishes. It starts at 6:30, but it gets crowded, and around 7:00 there was a line on the first floor.

My wife and I stayed for two nights, and everything seemed fine until the next morning. I woke up horrified to find the comforter I’d been sleeping under completely covered in dried blood. It wasn’t mine, and I have no idea whose it was or whether they might have had a disease, including HIV. I was so shocked that I screamed and couldn’t sleep for the rest of our stay. We told management, and they offered a $40 discount, which felt like an insult. The place was extremely unsanitary and dangerous in my experience. I’ll never stay here or at another Comfort Inn again. Be very careful if you book here.
