The breakfast setup is impressive: a tiny kitchen manages to feed a lot of guests, even if most of the ingredients are prepared in advance. Service is efficient and smart, and the place has the feel of a well-used public hall full of budget-conscious travelers. Toyoko Inn may not be the top city hotel, but it keeps a dependable standard at a low price. A humble but mighty part of Japan’s hotel scene.

The room was more spacious than I expected. The bathtub especially surprised me, and there was even a small round table where I could put the things I’d bought.

I’d give it five stars if the rooms weren’t quite so small. The prices are very reasonable, and breakfast is free. It’s a three-minute walk to the train station and bus terminal, with two major car rental companies right beside the hotel. There’s also parking on site. The reception staff are friendly and courteous, and they speak English. They’ll store your luggage before check-in or after check-out, and label the bags, which greatly lowers the chance of them being lost or stolen.

This is a standard chain hotel like you find all over Japan. Join the membership and you get one free room after 10 stays. The hotel is close to Yonago station, and getting there by JR train is convenient. The fare to Yonago station is ¥240 for an adult, then it’s a 100-meter walk to the hotel. They have parking, breakfast, pajamas, a computer, printer, and laundry. The room space is acceptable. Nice!

Convenient for a short stay: the hotel is near JR station, with lots of restaurants and ramen places around. The staff are friendly as usual, and the room is small by Japan standards.
