The room was small and faced a noisy road. The bed squeaked, sagged at the edge, and had a hole in the sheets. The pillow looked unpleasant inside its case. The coffee in the lobby was nice, and the stay was cheap, but I wouldn't come back unless there was nowhere else.

The worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Don't come. The room stank and the bed was awful.

Simple and cozy, with a choice of Japanese or Western breakfast.

The room looked lovely in the reservation photos, but what I found was very different. It felt as though the pictures had misrepresented the place. I attached room photos, so take a look at the awful floor around the bed. They're still offering a room in that condition, seemingly just brushing it off because the price is cheap. I could hear a baby crying next door, as well as hallway conversations and doors slamming. The hotel definitely wasn't full, so I wondered whether it had any repeat customers, or made its money from one-time guests. However cheap it is, they're still taking every yen from people, so they shouldn't be careless. The one good thing was that I happened to be able to use the large public bath when it was the men's time.

The location is handy, less than five minutes from Nishitetsu Kurume Station. There's a Seven-Eleven nearby, a supermarket at the station, and a decent number of restaurants, so shopping and finding food are easy. The service wasn't unpleasant, and some might consider it fair for the price, but I was bothered by the staff's untidy uniforms. Front desk staff are the face of the hotel and should use language that fits their customer service role. I didn't use the large public bath on the first floor. It was renovated around 2024, with men's and women's hours in morning and evening shifts. As of February 2026, work to expand the women's bath was underway and due to finish within the month. One of the two elevators was out of order. The room supplies seemed updated, but a sign said the hair dryer was made in 1997. The old Bonnell coil mattress creaked every time I turned over. Nightwear was a button-front one-piece dress. The cube-shaped fridge had to be plugged in by the guest. Downlights made the room dim, and there was no desk lamp. There was a kettle, and microwaves were near the elevator halls on every floor. There were plenty of outlets, including USB-A charging ports beside the pillow. Wi-Fi was extremely slow and unusable. The building and plumbing were old, and the bathroom fixtures were particularly hard to adjust. Shower pressure was average. The bathtub drained and flowed poorly, though I was relieved there was no sewage smell like at other hotels in the area. The glass cups were covered in sticky fingerprints, so I couldn't use them. I'd seen a viral social media video of someone rinsing cups in a guest room sink, wiping them with a used towel, and putting them back. There were paper cups as an alternative, but each was in a small plastic bag, and knowing they were handled here still felt unsanitary and unsettling. I had breakfast. The price difference from a room-only booking was 500 yen, while it seemed to cost 700 yen locally. It was a limited buffet, but 500 yen was enough for a quick bite. In declining regional cities, I think I'd choose a major chain if one were available. This stay taught me to avoid local chains unless they have very good reviews. I booked through APA Direct, but it only shared the reservation system, and this hotel wasn't as clean as APA Hotels. Having places like this on the same booking site lowered my impression of APA Hotels. People who only need a place to sleep may not mind, but anyone particular about cleanliness will find it painful.
