The staff were lovely and especially helpful when our shipped skis went missing. They contacted the local delivery office and tracked them down in time for our second ski day. The hotel has a friendly, youth-hostel sort of feel, with great access to the Hanazono lifts. It runs a morning and afternoon shuttle, and you can also walk there in about 10 minutes. The location felt more remote than we'd expected, so in hindsight we would've picked up groceries on the way and made some meals ourselves. Breakfast was fine but nothing exciting. The Japanese-style breakfast on our last day was a pleasant surprise. We had dinner at the hotel once, and it was tasty with a generous amount of food. Our second-floor room had a private bath and was very comfortable. The basement room with a shared bath smelled a little musty, and the shared shower and toilets were grim. Without access to our private shower, it would've been a less pleasant stay. Neither of our two rooms had a fridge, so we used nature's fridge, a plastic bag hung out the window. There's also a free Hanazono shuttle loop worth checking out. We came across it by accident on our way back to the airport, since it wasn't mentioned in the hotel's information or the resort transport summary. It stops behind the Park Hyatt, then goes to Hirafu Welcome Center and a few other places.

The owners and staff were so welcoming and helpful that what first seemed like a dated, odd hotel turned into a fabulous stay. Our Aussie family had large, warm, quiet, clean rooms, and the onsen was great. It's tucked away somewhere peaceful, away from the crowds. We used the hotel's free bus to the chairlifts, which are also within walking distance. Breakfast included good bacon and eggs and cereal. Staff took dinner orders and picked food up in nearby Kuchan. The pizzas were 10/10. And the knee- and waist-deep fresh powder at Hanazono was divine, insane! I'd highly recommend staying here.

I checked in in January 2023, and a snowstorm hit on the day I checked out. The host was still very responsible and helped me get into the city. The employees were kind, and breakfast was simple but delicious. Thank you very much 🙏

We'd stayed in Harifu before, but preferred Freedom Inn because it's close to Kutchan and gave us a more authentic Japanese experience. It's near both Hanazono lifts and Kutchan, and the staff were all very helpful. The van took us to the slopes and to dinner in Kutchan each day. Our room was great, breakfast was good, and the small onsen did the job. When we come back to Niseko, we'll stay here again. Can't recommend it enough.

We've stayed at Freedom Inn twice, in late March 2017 and 2018, and plan to return for another spring winter trip. The family room downstairs worked well for us both times, and the on-site onsen was excellent. Each morning there was a hot breakfast in a bright dining room, with a lovely view of the birch forest, stream, and mountain, plus a pot of coffee always ready. The staff made the biggest difference. They helped us book ski gear and lift tickets, pointed us to good local restaurants and hot springs, and ran a great shuttle around Kutchan and Hirafu. I recommend the place for its proximity to Hanazono, which we found the best, least crowded, and most family-friendly skiing and snowboarding in Niseko, but especially for the care the team puts into each guest's stay. Thanks so much to Jai and his team!
