Comfort Hotel Kyoto Horikawagojo

The breakfast was AMAZING, with loads of choices and everything tasting great. Our room was very clean, and the staff were polite and helpful, especially the breakfast crew. We had an amazing stay.

We got good value for our money, and the stay at Comfort hotel in Kyoto was good. The rooms are quite small. Breakfast can get busy, but we always found somewhere to sit. The location is okay, about a five-minute walk from a metro station, though it’s not especially close to all the sightseeing spots.

The breakfast buffet and espresso machine were the standouts. The quality and effort put their North American chains to shame. The neighborhood is quiet, the staff were excellent, and the rooms were clean, modern, and spacious. Great value.

The breakfast and cleanliness were very good by Japanese standards. Still, it’s a bit far from the tourist attractions, and there’s no subway nearby, so you have to use the bus. That can be confusing if you don’t use buses often. We also had an odd interaction at reception. We asked a white female staff member, the only non-Japanese staff member there, for a wake-up call because we thought communication might be easier. She wasn’t sure whether the hotel offered that service and said she needed to check.
