We had a great guesthouse stay. The separate house is tucked into an alley and has three floors. Rooms for five or six people are on the first floor, with four-person rooms on the second, and there are toilets on both floors. The kitchen and living room are upstairs on the third floor, so the climb can be tiring. But having a full bathroom, kitchenware, and a large fridge was really convenient. The shopping street nearby made it easy to pick up supplies. I'd recommend it if you want to try a Japanese-style guesthouse.

The self check-in directions were clear, replies came quickly, and we even had a WeChat contact. We booked through Booking.com. The hotel was clean and tucked into an alley near Sanjo Shopping Street. There is a Lawson at the entrance, a 7-11 across the street, and a supermarket very close by. Parking is right outside, and the rental lot can fit an 8-person car. Getting in is the tricky part, since the entrance is a fairly narrow one-way street. The kitchen had plenty of clean pots and utensils, so we could cook ingredients from the market. The washer was easy to use and there was lots of detergent. On the first floor were three single beds and room for two 28-inch suitcases, which felt comfortable. Upstairs on the second floor were the bathroom and two large single beds, with space for another two 28-inch suitcases. The third floor had a kitchenette, a small living room, and a Japanese-style single room. I highly recommend it. We had a wonderful stay.

It was my first stay in Kyoto, and the whole building was rented for six of us. The rooms, living room, and dining room had lots of space, though the stairs were a bit narrow. The place was clean and quiet. Kyoto Station is about a 10-minute taxi ride away. There’s a 7-Eleven/Lawson by the intersection, and a shopping street starts next to Lawson. Follow it to the end and you reach the popular Takagi Wholesale Market. There aren't many restaurants nearby, but there's a supermarket where it's easy to get groceries and cook at home.
