Hotel Resol Kyoto Kawaramachi Sanjo

I always look forward to coming back here. I’ve stayed on four different occasions, and the rooms have been a reasonable size and clean each time. There’s a good selection of amenities, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the weekday afternoon entertainment is always interesting.

We spent three nights here for our anniversary, without any particular expectations. The room was comfortable and clean, and there was a different event each afternoon. We got to see a Maiko's Japanese Dance and a Tsuguru Shamisen Performance by Iida Hana. Iida Hana-san's performance was especially breathtaking, and we’re so grateful we got to see it live. If you want a well-located place in Kyoto with a touch of traditional Japanese culture, I definitely recommend Hotel Resol Kyoto Kawaramachi.

We tried the basement restaurant for breakfast and found it a little underwhelming. If you’re keen to go out for a traditional breakfast, I’d do that instead. The location was so convenient for getting to the train, yet it was quiet despite being in a busy part of Kyoto. The room and bathroom felt new and comfortable, with cozy lighting. Everything was exceptionally clean, the staff were friendly, and everyone spoke English well.

We booked a Double and a Twin on the 10th floor because this hotel was meant to be quiet. The Double was much better for keeping noise out, with smaller windows and a more secure lock. In the Twin, large sliding windows let in a lot of outside sound. We were woken up constantly by motorbikes, birds, and people chatting in the street, so I’d avoid that room if you’re a light sleeper.
