I booked through klook, and the room was extremely dirty. There were stains on the toilet seat, bed, and carpets, visible dust everywhere, and it even floated around. The free toiletries seemed expired or reused, and the toothpaste tasted like hand lotion in a toothbrush package. It smelled of cigarettes, and I felt itchy the whole time I slept. I'd paid a bit more than at a few business hotels during my Japan trip, and those were nicer. The state of the place made me sad, and I don't know how it could inspire romance. Other reviews mentioned a free ride to the station, but nobody offered one to us. Maybe it was because we're not locals. The hotel is near a main road, and cars and motorbikes kept us awake. The elevator instructions about Wi-Fi and how to receive the included breakfast weren't there. The breakfast was just a tiny sandwich that cost an extra 1000 yen. I wouldn't recommend it. I guess Japanese guests are treated better, while foreigners are treated like garbage.

I'm undecided about staying here when I visit the area again. The room is big and the staff are great, but there are two big problems: noise from neighbors, and having to contact reception to be let out of the hotel. It feels like being locked in like a prisoner of war. What if you call when you're ready to leave and nobody answers for ages because something happened to them? That feels eerie. The staff are great, though.

We enjoyed our night here, especially compared with other love hotels I've stayed in. We didn't hear any noise from the neighbors or hallway. The room was clean and had plenty of amenities, and in the morning the lovely breakfast sandwiches arrived right on time. Our room had a retro space theme, with glow-in-the-dark wallpaper and a rocket-and-planets headboard with built-in lights. Each room has its own theme, so we didn't know in advance which one we'd get. The welcome was pleasant, and someone quickly explained everything and asked when to bring the breakfast sandwiches. A heads-up: this is a love hotel and it operates like one. Check-in starts at 6 pm, there isn't a room key, and you need to call the front desk to be buzzed out. It caters to a specific clientele. For us, though, free parking was very practical for our road trip. It's outside Arashiyama's tourist center, about a half-hour walk away. The owner can arrange transfers to and from the train station if you tell them the time.

The reception was terrific. The woman helped with our questions, explained how things worked, and even gave us a lift into the city one morning. They can also help arrange rides to the hotel from the train station and after checkout. The rooms are large, with a TV, VOD, and even a massage chair. The bathroom is big and has glass walls. We had a really good experience, and I'd definitely recommend it for a Kyoto sightseeing trip.

I arrived at 1 am after staying at the very good onsen "Tenzan no yu" and looking around Arashiyama for somewhere to spend the night. After 10 pm, nobody was attending reception elsewhere, and I was nearly ready to sleep on the street. Some Japanese guys told me about this Love Hotel and called ahead to see if there was a room. The receptionist was very kind and helped me with everything, even though I don't know Japanese. The next day I needed to get to Torokko Arashiyama station early, and the lady already had a car ready for me. It was the best emergency experience. The room was huge, with a comfortable bed, television, sofa, and big bathroom. Everything was excellent. Thank you!
