The room was spacious and having a kitchen and washing machine was a plus, but I can’t think of much else to like here, especially at this price. There’s no reception or room service, no Wi-Fi that works properly, no towel replacement, and no rubbish collection. The room was dusty and one towel had a blood stain. The walls and ceiling are so thin I could hear people walking and talking at 4-5am. The Wi-Fi felt like 2G.
The air conditioning units are moldy, and the ones in shared areas are dirtier than the ones on the subway. We kept reminding the owner, or the middleman handling the building, for a week to clean things up. Nothing happened, and now they’re ignoring us. The photos make this place look nothing like the reality. If you can, don’t stay here. It’s a health and safety hazard.
I left very unhappy and wouldn’t recommend this place. The basic hygiene was poor, and when I checked out on the day I checked in with reasonable evidence of why I was dissatisfied, they refused to refund me. I lost 39,990 yen. They said the dirty floor was just aged, and didn’t address my point that the trash bin lid was dirty from the start. There was rubbish in the hallway from 1pm to 9pm that day. They claimed the cleaning team had been there from 10-3am and suggested other guests must have left it. When my basic needs as a customer weren’t met, they didn’t look after my interests, and that felt immoral. I’m leaving this review because I don’t want this disrespectful attitude toward clients to continue.
The room was spacious, and having a washing machine and a rack for drying clothes was useful. Staff seemed absent, though getting the key was easy. The place is affordable and near buses, trains, and some nice restaurants. It’s about a 25-minute walk to the right location if you accidentally head to the wrong one, as I initially did. The beds are brutally hard, though the pillows are nice. My back is killing me now. Walls are thin, so I could hear people snoring and talking. You only get one very thin towel for the whole stay. I could see plenty of towels behind the main desk window, and one extra would’ve been nice. Average stay, and I probably won’t book again.
Loved this place, best hotel I’ve stayed at so far in Japan. The room was roomy, with a little kitchen, microwave, fridge, and its own washing machine. No reception, but checking in and out was smooth. It’s five minutes from a metro station and about a 20-minute walk from Kyoto’s main station. Perfect!
