I really liked my Frank Lloyd Wright inspired room, along with the quiet, discreet bar on the 7th floor and the intimate breakfast. The staff were thoughtful and well trained whenever we interacted with them. The hotel is a new gem in the heart of Gion, close to tourist spots and shopping, while the area itself still feels peaceful. Can't recommend it enough.

After a great week at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, we followed their suggestion to visit the new Imperial Hotel in Kyoto on our way there. The Kyoto location is great, but the hotel itself was a total disappointment compared with Tokyo. There's no lobby, just a miserable doorway area where a hostess takes you up in an elevator. The bar was empty, yet they charged us a 2000 yen cover fee on top of the drinks. We didn't stay overnight, so I can't speak to the rooms, but the experience of the hotel itself wasn't even close to the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. The Tokyo hotel had spacious grandeur and kind staff, and everything there was super.

We ordered the waygu fillet for the main and were completely blown away. The escargots were the juiciest and most garlicky we've ever had. The food was amazing, and the service was incredible. Such a wonderful meal, we'd highly recommend it. Compliments to the chefs!
