This traditional guest house is a lot of fun. The toilets are outside, which can be a plus or a minus. You get to them along a nicely laid stone and gravel path, and the restroom and shower area has pretty wooden floors. It could feel chilly in winter. I had no trouble in December 2019, though it had been a bit warm, so I’d recommend it for spring, summer, or fall.

I booked this for my parents during their trip to Japan, and we’d definitely come back. It’s a short distance from a bus stop with service to Kyoto station.

Nozomi was so welcoming and helped me with everything. She was kind, very responsive, and attentive to details, which made me really happy with the stay. The shared space is a Japanese-style room, just as you’d expect, and the house itself is the traditional Japanese home I wanted to experience. I strongly recommend Mitsorou's place if you’re in Kyoto.

Nozomi gave us a very warm welcome, and the building was neat and pleasant. Just keep in mind that the rooms are close together, some beside or above each other, and sound travels easily through the traditional clay and wood structure. We needed to be very quiet at night.

It’s a little walk to get places, but we didn’t mind, and they provided free bikes and wifi for the stay. The house has a lot of history, and everything was clean and warm throughout the day and night, even in winter. We’d definitely book it again on our next trip.
