Kyoto Century Hotel

The price this season was hard to beat, and the staff were kind, helpful, and attentive. The room, amenities, and facilities were all great. Being right beside Kyoto Station made getting around cheaper. You can hear trains from the sixth floor, so light sleepers may want to keep that in mind. It didn't bother me. I slept well, found the sound almost like white noise, and enjoyed looking out at the tracks.

The staff were attentive and the service was wonderful. Rooms were spacious and comfortable, and it's very close to kyoto station. I left my luggage there for one night before check-in. It cost ¥1,000 per bag per night, but storage on the check-in and check-out days was free.

The hotel service was lovely and the location excellent. The rooms were small but nice. Breakfast, though, could run much more smoothly. I was on a group tour. On the first day, we waited at least 10 minutes to get into the restaurant. The next day, people were lined up inside because the food stations weren't clearly separated by type, so everyone moved along one long, slow queue. On day three the American coffee had run out, and so had the forks and spoons. I had to ask for both to be replenished. It seemed like breakfast was short-staffed in the morning, and the whole setup could work better.

There’s an old-world feel to the design, and the lobby is especially pleasant, with a buffet restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The rooms are roomy, with a large shower and tub together and a separate toilet. It’s a really good four-star hotel right by Kyoto Station, with shops and other amenities close by.
