RESI STAY Nishiki

The apartments are excellent and really well appointed. Great water pressure, too.

The room was spotless, and the location worked perfectly for us. We stayed in October 2024 and had a really lovely time. We could sometimes hear our noisy neighbors through the walls, though, so keep that in mind. Still, we were very happy with the stay.

We picked the Hello Kitty suite for a trip with my wife and our two daughters, and they were thrilled by all the themed details, from the ice cube tray and water bottles to the complimentary masks and other goodies. The bathroom was high-tech and very clean, and having a shared washer and dryer meant we could bring less luggage. There are only four units in the whole 'hotel', so our evenings were quiet. The location at the west end of Nishiki Market was ideal for food and shopping. A couple of things to plan for: the stairs to either of the two upper units are steep, which could make big suitcases hard to carry, and check-in is at an office near Kyoto Station, about 2 miles away. That worked for me because I was arriving there, but could be a hassle if you're coming from somewhere else.

The staff were friendly, but sorting out luggage forwarding to another city got confusing, and we spent almost half an hour rearranging our bags before it was finally okay. Maybe it was a language barrier, but if you don't speak Japanese, I don't think this place is worth it. Getting there is also awkward since the actual hotel is quite far from the check-in office, so going back and forth is inconvenient. The room was cute, but for that price I think you can stay somewhere better. The staircase is very dim and steep, and you have to haul all your things up it. It felt dangerous. The website should mention this for people with injuries or health problems.
