We loved the Machiya. It was comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful whenever we dealt with them, and the place was flexible and really well located.

We were four people and really enjoyed the traditional townhouse atmosphere. The kitchen and bathroom were clean and convenient, which left us very satisfied. Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Kodai-ji Temple are easy to get to from there. We’d like to stay again next time we’re in Kyoto.

As a student travelling with my family, this was our first stay in a traditional townhouse. Being near both Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Gion made things very convenient. The kitchen was small, but it had all the utensils and equipment we needed, which helped a lot.

A little house in a very good spot, and a nice way to get a feel for Japanese life. The only drawback for us was that the kitchen equipment felt too small for a French family.
