Really nice and cozy.

I came across this place by chance, and the location was great. It's a traditional house that's been neatly renovated, with everything clean and tidy. From Kiyomizu-michi Station, it's just a short walk down a residential lane, about 30 seconds, to this quiet, charming spot. I tried sleeping in both the bed and the futon; the bed was comfortable and pleasant. The stairs were a little steep, but I enjoyed them as part of the experience. A warm half-bath in the tub was a lovely way to relax. The living room downstairs, upstairs bedroom, and tatami room all have air conditioning, which kept me cool on hot days. There's also a washing machine and clothes dryer in the bathroom. Check-in was at a hotel near the station, where I was welcomed politely and could easily catch a taxi. I'd stay again if I got the chance. If you want to experience a traditional house without staying in a run-down machiya, I recommend Rinn's Kyomachiya.

The setting feels really distinctive, and the place itself is beautiful. I'd absolutely recommend it for a Kyoto stay.

It's a private, very new place with a kitchen for making your own meals. Shops and other useful amenities are conveniently close by.
