Rinn Higashi Otowa

The room was roomy and cozy, and the bed was very comfortable. Our host was kind, gave us useful information, and let us check in early. Although the place is off the main street, it’s still handy for nearby attractions within walking distance. That gave us a quiet night’s sleep without feeling far from things. We had a really pleasant stay and I’d recommend it.

Out of the three places I stayed during my Japan trip, this was my favorite, and the price was very good. The room was clean and had everything I needed in Kyoto. It’s quiet in the evening, close to bus stops, and about a 15 minute walk from Kiyomizu-dera temple, which is a big plus if you want to get there early and beat the crowd. The host speaks excellent English, so I’d highly recommend staying here if you know little or no Japanese.

We stayed two nights in May 2025, and the room was much more spacious and spotless than we expected for the price. The location made it easy to explore, with Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Ninenzaka, and Sannenzaka just a short walk away. At reception, the male staff member, whose name I believe is Hiro, was incredibly friendly, spoke very good English, and gave us helpful local tips and information. Great value, comfort, cleanliness, and location, with helpful staff. Highly recommended! 💯☺️❤️

The rooms were quiet and clean, except for some mold on the shower curtain, which I don’t think will hurt anyone. The receptionist, who is also the owner, was friendly and spoke good English. The only real drawback for me was being a fair distance from downtown, and taxis had a hard time finding the place. Still, I had a great stay.
