Seikoro Ryokan - Established in 1831

I can't wait to return to Kyoto and see our friends at Seikoro Ryokan. We loved our room and the Japanese breakfast, and the people there became part of our lives during the stay. Our hosts and attendant were kind and professional, and took care of every detail. The hospitality and execution were perfect. This was hands down the best part of our visit to Japan, and I highly recommend it to anyone staying in Kyoto.

The food was so good. Dinner was traditional Japanese food, breakfast could be Japanese or Western, and on our last day we had a traditional hot pot. You normally eat in your room, but since there were 5 of us, they gave us a special room. They were careful about food allergies, and everything was really clean. The staff were lovely and so kind, waving goodbye for ages when we left for the day. The room was clean, big, and pretty, with traditional mattresses as well as beds. The bathrooms had traditional Japanese showers and toilets. There was also a communal bath to try, and I remember the women's one wasn't very crowded. It was perfect in every way!

The building is traditional and almost 200 years old, so the whole experience was unlike anything I've had before. Service was the best I've had in the WORLD, with such kind people looking after you hand and foot. It was also really walkable. Thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness. It's quite pricey, but the service is great 👍 We stayed in room 16 and had both dinner and breakfast there. Our room attendant was very good, friendly, and I'd recommend the place 👍😊 I lived in Japan for two years a long time ago, but now that I'm in the UK my Japanese is rusty. We may have misunderstood a few things, though our Japanese is fine if people speak slowly. We were in travel mode, so we didn't explain much 🌟
