Umekoji Potel Kyoto Hotel

We loved the peaceful feel of the neighborhood. Umekoji Park was a highlight, with locals walking dogs, exercising, or relaxing there in the morning and evening. It gave us a nice glimpse of everyday Kyoto and made the area feel welcoming. The hotel is modern and stylish, with artistic details in the design and shared spaces that give it a distinct Kyoto feel. It's comfortable and relaxing, too. Though it's about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station, we preferred staying here to the busy station area. JR's Umekōji-Kyōtonishi Station is right next door, so getting around is easy. We'd happily choose Umekoji Potel Kyoto again.

The themed amenities on each floor were just right, and we really liked the restaurant on site. The location was amazing, too. Everyone on staff was kind and extremely helpful. Umekoji Potel was a fantastic experience, and we'll definitely stay here next time we're in Kyoto.

The room didn't have much in the way of storage. There wasn't really a wardrobe or a place for our suitcases, so we left them against the wall. Still, we had a great seven-night stay in early November. Our Wood Flat Twin Room had a window and looked beautiful, the facilities were very good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We liked the location by the park: pleasantly quiet, with the metro, a supermarket and Starbucks about three minutes away. Most major sights were within a 10-minute walk, and we walked to Kyoto Station in around 15 minutes. Other nice extras included free drip coffee and drinks, plus a lovely rooftop terrace view. We paid €1.122 for seven nights without breakfast, booking through booking.com (Netherlands). Highly recommended.

There was plenty nearby to keep us busy for two full days, including a park, an aquarium, and a railway museum. I stayed with my child to see the cherry blossoms, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel had great facilities, everything was convenient, and there were lots of fun, creative touches throughout. I'd love to come back.
