We loved the garden footbath after walking around the city, and the sitting room has an unbeatable pagoda view. The facilities are very nice, and the house is spacious, though its layout takes some getting used to: the bedroom and sitting room are upstairs, the toilet is downstairs, and the bathroom is at the far end of the building, across a small garden. The stairs are very steep. They weren’t a big issue for us, but could be hard for some people, especially at night when heading to the bathroom. There’s an emergency exit sign right outside the bedroom that stays lit all night, which could bother anyone who needs complete darkness to sleep. A neighbor also seemed annoyed about tourists staying there. He gave us a few stern looks while we waited by the door with our suitcases and whenever we crossed paths. Our arrival was stressful: the code we’d been given didn’t open the door, and we couldn’t reach the property by message or phone for over 30 minutes. We had to wait awkwardly outside with all our luggage. They eventually sent the correct code, and the next day, while we were out, someone entered the house and left a box of pastries as an apology.

We didn’t realize how prime the location was until we arrived, and it turned out to be the main highlight. The rooms are big, with peaceful corners and a lovely Japanese feel. You really have to be there to appreciate the serene structure and the stay itself. Glad we got to experience it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The facilities were amazing, and the location was great. A highlight of our time in Japan.

If you can get a booking here, do it. It was excellent all round.
