Akiko and Takumi made my stay at Ryokan Andayu feel special. They were warm and friendly, and the soba at their restaurant, Hana, was delicious. I've lived in Japan for about 30 years, and the soba lunch I had there was by far the best I've tried. I usually love Japanese hotel buffet breakfasts, but couldn't enjoy them during the pandemic. Their generous Japanese-style breakfast was so good I may prefer it to a buffet. I needed time to relax and recharge, and was glad I chose this place. I had the whole ryokan to myself, so I wandered between the rooms and enjoyed the balcony with its lounge chair and city view, the spacious bath, and the living room's amazing massage chair. The soft light from the Japanese lamps made me feel peaceful, and I went to bed and slept well. The tatami room and double-padded futon were very comfortable. I brought a bento for dinner from a local shop that grills meat. It was huge, delicious, and inexpensive. The inn is just down the street from a major train station, yet the neighborhood is very quiet, so I could sleep in. I also enjoyed the onsen, Yūyu, across the main street, which had good food, and the digital festival experience at Ennichi right at Maebashi Station. Don't miss it! Like Team Labo in Tokyo. The large parking lot was a plus for me because I don't like small parking spaces. They told me that during the pandemic they switched to one reservation per night and redecorated some rooms to feel more like home. One room has a living room and conference room combination, which seems ideal for meetings. I'm happy they made that change, and think many people will benefit from their forward-thinking approach. Ryokan Andayu would work well for yourself, family, or a large group. I highly recommend it!

Yuka
The owner was very friendly, and the place was clean, so I had a really pleasant first stay. Since we may have been the only guests, it felt almost like home, haha. I slept soundly on the soft futons. The food was delicious. You can also get beer, sake, shochu, or non-alcoholic drinks in the evening for an extra fee. We brought our own things, but it seems yukata, bath towels, and face towels are available to rent. There's parking too.

This felt like a family-friendly inn. Upstairs there's a relaxation room with massage chairs, a library with toys and manga, and a playroom with a ping pong table. The owner teaches soba noodle making, and the meals are set meals I'd want every day if lunch were available. Breakfast was especially good, and beautifully presented. The rooms and shared spaces were spotless, the amenities were excellent, and the bedding was comfortable. When I booked by phone, they honestly explained that there's only one bath and that its water circulates constantly. There's also a shared refrigerator, microwave, and water dispenser. No yukata, but they provide other amenities.
Minako
I was impressed by how carefully everything was cleaned, and the attention to detail showed throughout the building. The restrooms and baths are shared, but families and women can reserve a bath for private use. Breakfast was delicious, though I wish I'd mentioned beforehand that I can't eat boiled eggs. 💦 They replied quickly to my reservation by email. I'll definitely come back.

The owner was nice and the service was good. Handrails on the stairs would be a welcome addition.
