The sauna and shower facilities were the highlights for us, and our one-night stay felt just right. FUMAI sauna smart hotel was a memorable, unusual experience that we’d happily recommend if you’re after something immersive and different. It’s best to know what you’re booking: this isn’t a typical hotel, and it may not suit families, though it’s great for couples. Everything runs automatically, with no standard check-in or front desk interaction, and the process was smooth. The room follows a traditional Japanese style, from the small entrance door to the futon, and the whole setup felt intentional and true to the concept.
The amenities were generous, with plenty of towels, work clothes, and bottled water. The shower and bathtub were nice to have, though they had a slight moldy smell. The futon mattress felt dirty, and the refrigerator was a bit noisy. There was no window, which was a drawback. We stayed in the VIP orchid room for two. As other reviews have said, the sauna only gets to 65 degrees, so it takes a while to heat up.
The location is right in the middle of a lively area, with lots of restaurants within a 3-minute walk. The room was modern and clean, and I liked the large walk-in shower. There’s no check-in or checkout routine, just a code for your stay, which keeps things simple. For the price, it’s hard to do better. Perfect for me.
The kids were thrilled with the hidden little room that reminded us of a tea room. We stayed in the largest room as a family, and there was loads of space, with a sofa, sauna, and shower and bath like you’d see in overseas hotels. The room seemed clean, and it’s great value for the money. Keeping the accommodation cost down was a real plus for us. The mattress underside, which is always there, looked a little moldy. With no windows, the room design may make it more prone to mold. The only free parking spot is very tight, just enough for a 3-number car without sticking out into the road. Check Google Maps before you go. The tires are positioned so they won’t hit the wall.
This was my second stay, and it left me disappointed even though the facilities were otherwise good. I paid the same price, but there were no lotion or other amenities when I checked in, and I hadn’t brought any because the website said they were provided. Staff told me the lotion pouches were delayed by the manufacturer and there were no replacements. I’d booked that same day and hadn’t received a PIN code either. There’s no shop inside the hotel, so they should clearly say when amenities aren’t available. That was very inconvenient, especially for female guests.
