Naniwa Issui

We’ve come back several times, and our favourite room is the one with a turntable and records to play after “it's been a hard day's night”. The rooms with private onsens or baths are great, since you can relax whenever you like without going to the large public bath. There are also several wheelchair-friendly rooms, including at least one with an assisted lift into the private onsen, which is helpful when travelling with someone in a wheelchair or an elderly relative. The ryokan has rooms with lovely Lake Shinjiko views and serves fantastic meals. During COVID, they were checking temperatures and limiting guest interactions, but that didn’t take away from the experience.

For traditional Japanese food and service, this place is a must. It’s a delightful Ryokan with beautiful lake views, only a few rooms across five floors, rather than the typical stacked hotel setup. The service and quality were excellent throughout.

The newly renovated floor was a great place to stay. Our futons were super comfortable, and the room even had binoculars for bird watching, which was fun. The food and service were awesome. I’d highly recommend the experience 😀

The hotel’s hall and corridors gave me a strong The Shining feeling, which I absolutely liked. The service was nice, and so was the dinner set.
