My train to Okayama gave me trouble, and Shoko kindly let me stay an extra night, even though the guesthouse was closed to guests that day. She's such a friendly, caring owner, and she looks after lots of cats, so you'll get to meet them. The guesthouse feels like home, is super clean, and sits very close to the train station. I'd absolutely recommend it. Thanks again, Shoko!

Fine for a night, but the 4.8/5 rating on Google feels too high to me. I think a lot of the praise is about the cats more than the hostel itself, so here's how I saw it. It's clean and comfortable, close to the station, and the lady running it is nice. The beds have curtains, though there's no enclosure, so you only get partial privacy. After checkout, you can't sit in the lobby or downstairs, which isn't great if you're working. Laundry costs 800¥, way too much. The cats were really noisy and kept attacking each other and pulling out fur. It was distressing to watch.

The owner is friendly and full of information. I was struck by how she rescued all the cats from sad situations, and she has plenty of interesting stories about her life. The guesthouse is in a fantastic spot, the beds are comfortable, and the cats are adorable. What else would you want? Stay here for a unique experience. Thank you very much😊

The host was in a sunny mood and helped me sort out both renting a motorbike and making phone calls. Great cats, a good guesthouse, and a super location too. I'd definitely come back. Many thanks, all the best.
